PROTECTING
OKLAHOMA'S CHILDREN
Drew knows that our children are Oklahoma's
future and works hard to protect their
health, ensure their safety and increase
resources for schools. His recent successes
on behalf of children include
- Launching a school-based initiative
to fight underage drinking. Ask, Listen,
Learn: Kids and Alcohol Don't Mix
promotes communication between kids and
their parents about the dangers of
alcohol. For more information, go to
Asklistenlearn.com and
Asklistenlearnparents.com.
- Reducing youth access to tobacco by
signing agreements with some of the
state's biggest tobacco retailers. These
agreements require Wal-marts, 7-Elevens,
Walgreens and other sellers to more
strictly check identification, restrict
in-store advertising near products
popular with children and hire
independent monitors to conduct random
compliance checks.
- Protecting students' personal
information from being sold to companies
without their knowledge by a marketing
company claiming to collect the
information for college recruitment
purposes.
- Helping to create the Oklahoma
Educational Technology Trust to provide
millions of dollars to Oklahoma public
schools for computers and classroom
technology.
