• The Oklahoma
District Attorneys Association Home Run
Hitters Award for Drew's
outstanding services to benefit Oklahoma's
prosecutors.
• The 2005 Dr.
Nathan Davis Award for Outstanding Public
Service from the American Medical
Association for Drew’s work to
improve the care Americans receive at the
end of life. The Davis Award is the highest
honor bestowed upon a public official by the
nation’s largest physician organization.
• The 2004 Paul H. Chapman Award
from the Foundation for Improvement of
Justice in recognition of Drew’s work to
expedite the appeals process in death
penalty cases.
• The 2006 John and Emma Bonica Public
Service Award from the American
Pain Society.
• The 2005 Humanitarian of the Year Award
from the Board of the Oklahoma
Mental Health Consumer Council. Both Drew
and Governor Brad Henry were honored for
their strong commitment to improved mental
health services.
• The Kelley-Wyman Award from the
National Association of Attorneys General
for his work on palliative care, his
leadership during the 1998 tobacco
settlement negotiations, his efforts to
streamline the appeals process for death
penalty cases and his overall commitment to
public service. This is the highest honor
awarded by the NAAG.
• The Champion for Pain Relief Public
Awareness Award from the American
Alliance of Cancer Pain Initiatives in
recognition of Drew’s efforts to raise
awareness about end-of-life issues.
• Two-time recipient of the Bright Shining
Star Award from the Oklahoma
Coalition Against Domestic Violence & Sexual
Assault for his work on behalf of victims of
domestic violence and sexual assault.
• The 2004 Public Policy Award
from the National Hospice and Palliative
Care Organization.
• One of 2004’s
Distinguished Alumni by
Northeastern State University.
• The Vision to Action Award by
the Center for Practical Bioethics.
• Both Drew and Linda were honored by the
Oklahoma Chapter of the National Association
of Social Workers in 2004. Drew
was named Public Elected Official of the
Year and Linda was named Oklahoma Social
Worker of the Year.
• The Justice Marian Opala First Amendment
Award from Freedom of Information
Oklahoma, Inc.
• The 2002 Lela Roddy Special Recognition
Award from the Court Appointed
Special Advocate (CASA) for his “tireless
advocacy for abused children and women” and
his efforts on behalf of victims.
